Zakku had been wandering Ba Sing Se for a few hours before deciding to leave the capital for a bit of a walk. Although the swamp was quite a ways away it seemed he didn't mind the small hike. When he was younger he had travelled with his grandfather a bit. Selling useless junk you'd probably find on the side of the street, basically useless crap. He'd try and pawn it off to a few gullible suckers for a quick buck. That's how his family had made a living when his father's antique shop had gone out of business. Their living circumstances had become.. a little under the weather. The family became desperate for cash. Zakku was merely a little boy when he'd help scavenge some rough shaped items for his grandfather. His grandfather would treat it like a game for him and Zakku at that age found it to be quite fun. Luckily these days he lived in better circumstances then that. The boy grabbed his fox antelope by the horns and guided it towards the swamp. He didn't usually leave his fox antelope's side much. He preferred it to tag along. Zakku took some bread he had brought with them and threw it into the water. A few turtle ducks came up and ate the small ripped chunks of the loaf. One piece hadn't made it's way into the water so he bent down to pick it up to throw it in but a turtle duck approached and bit his finger, then grabbed the piece and fled to the safety of the water. The black haired boy muttered a few words yet managed a small smile. Guowei Fan |

"You'd better watch out. Turtleducks are vicious."
Somehow managing to keep a straight face, the earthbending avatar dismounted from his ostrich horse and let its reins drop to the ground. The animal wouldn't leave; it was too well-trained for that. Instead it stood there, tilting its head, before trotting a ways away to graze.
"Do you like getting bitten by wild animals?" He shook his head and took a seat, looking at his firebending friend out of the corner of his eye. Yep, he was smiling. "So, is there any reason you decided to come up to these spiritforsaken swamplands or was it just for fun?"
Guowei didn't like terrible smells. This was his least favorite part of the Earth Kingdom. |

"Oh, hi." He greeted, realizing he was no longer alone out here.
He raised a brow and smirked. "No but that wasn't my intent." He yawned and took a seat as well. "Thought I'd take a stroll. I was roaming Ba Sing Se for a few hours and I get tired of crowds." He shrugged and his fox antelope lay down beside him.
"I could almost ask you the same thing though. I mean I usually come out here to enjoy the animals, especially the turtle ducks. But why is it you've made your way to the swamp?" He was truly interested in the avatar's response. Usually Zakku travelled with the avatar but well not everyone could stay by someone's side twenty four seven.

Guowei shrugged. "They told me to practice waterbending."
He didn't really need to elaborate. He'd done pretty well in earthbending and had been making some progress in firebending, but he hadn't even started air and his waterbending skills were, for the moment, self-taught. It was the elders' opinion that he should learn one element at a time. And since he wasn't traveling with Kakku for the moment, he'd been tasked with bending some of the water from the swamp.
"Even when we're not traveling we keep running into one another. You've got to stop following me around, firebender."
That was how he joked. He didn't mind running into his friend and mentor, though there were times when he wanted nothing to do with another person. He imagined that the same was true for Kakku.
He flicked a bug off of a blade of grass. This place was disgusting. |

"Ah, I see. Obedient you are but I wouldn't expect less from the Avatar." He nodded with a grin.
He was right, despite travels on hold they still seemed to meet up by coincidence a fair bit amount. Zakku had honestly no problem with it considering he was given the job to guard the guy but even so he too liked to be alone sometimes. "Haha.. Don't take me for a stalker now. Don't get me wrong, Avatar. I keep tabs on you but I don't intend on being considered two peas in a pod, thank you." He crossed his arms.
"I can sense you don't feel too fondly for this place. Either that or you are bored enough to give bugs their death wish." Although he didn't mind this place himself he did find it to be a bit.. Unappealing in comparison to most places.

He pointedly squished another bug.
"I can tell you like this place more than you should. Why? It's not the most pleasant location in the Earth Kingdom."
He couldn't understand why the firebender would choose go to here on his day off, of all places.

He watched Guowei squish another bug and listened to him asking another question. "This place doesn't have the greatest smell or atmosphere. I'll be honest when I say I came for the turtle ducks." He grinned, throwing another piece of the loaf in the water nearby. "True the Earth Kingdom has some much better places." He agreed.
"Yep, most of us should. I typically don't like water but I guess you could call me the odd one out. I'll still be around it if need be."
